Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn extra money online, but may not be for those of you starting out. If you have followed my posts regarding earning extra money for free and now have a good website with some decent traffic flowing into it, it might be time to start trying to sell your traffic products and enjoying a kick back from the sales.
This is what affiliate marketing is. Quite simply, you direct buyers to a product and the producer gives you a commission for setting up the sale. many companies are happy to work on with this model and some ‘affiliate networks’ are set up with the sole intention of bringing advertisers and sellers together. One of these networks that I personally have used is clickbank. Clickbank has a huge amount of eBook style product on almost any topic that you can sell on your site. After you have signed up and created an account, you are able to choose a product to promote on your site. You will then be given tracking link that will let click bank know that you have sent to traffic to the product and that’s it. It is that easy, there is no need to worry about setting up payments or anything. The seller and clickbank handle all of that. All you need to do is send the traffic (get users to click) through your link or ad and the commission on any sales just arrives in your clickbank account. Amazon also has a very popular affiliate program that works in a similar way, I will leave you to discover more on your own.
Last week Clixsense was hacked and the team over there had to work very hard to make sure that their users were not compromised. It looks as though they have done an excellent job. I would not have even known there had been a problem if they had not made regular announcements telling us what was happening. The only impact on my and most other user account was having to reset the password. I think there was only one day the website was offline. Below is the latest announcement from Clixsense:
“Members we want to keep you informed on what is happening with our recent hack. It has come to our attention that this hacker did get access to our database server for a short period of time. He was able to gain access to this not directly but instead through an old server we were no longer using that had a connection to our database server. (This server has since been terminated).
He was able to copy most if not all of our users table, he ran some SQL code that changed the names on accounts to “hacked account” and deleted many forum posts. He also set user balances to $0.00.
We were able to restore the user balances, forum and many account names. Some of you were asked to fill out your name again as we did not want to restore this from our backup due to the amount of time it would have taken to get back online.
What does this all mean? Simply put, your ClixSense account information is now much more secure. We did a forced password change as a precautionary measure and many of you have already changed your emails as well. If by chance you have used the same password here as other services (such as your email, Paypal or another PTC, etc..) please make sure you change these passwords too.
To say this past week was a bit stressful is an understatement. It has taught us that regardless of what you do to stay secure, it still may not be enough. We are continuing to improve ClixSense security all around and we will continue to keep you updated on any new developments.
Clixsense gets top marks in my book for the efficient and transparent way they handled this small disaster and my trust in them has increased even high than before. If you are looking for a trustworthy paid to click site, Clixsense gets my vote.

August was another good month again increasing over the previous month. I was helped in my earnings with a full month of advertisers on board and a decent amount of traffic to the site. I would be reasonably happy at this stage if my monthly earnings remained the same, but I certainly would prefer more!
Total – $3.26USD = $4.47NZD (approx)
Total – $18.52NZD
Bitcoin – $0.25NZD
Affiliate advertising – $42.000NZD
site hosting – $16.45NZD
- Total earning: $65.24
- Payments received: $25.00
- Total –> $65.24 – $16.81(hosting) = -$48.79NZD earned
Here is my second payment from the most excellent survey site, PureProfile. Another $25.00 into my PayPal account with only a slight delay, but no real issues at all. Pure profile has just finished updating their site with a new look a few months ago and already, it has become my favorite survey site to use.
The survey feed is easy to use and set out in a clear and attractive way. There are ‘mini’ surveys to do sometime too, which is a nice way to earn a small amount without commiting to a long drawn out survey.
But my absolute favorite thing about this site is that PureProfile pays you to refer others in the way that smilecity used to do. This allows some extra bonus earning on top of the usual paid surveys that other sites offer.

Ok, you have read the first 3 parts of earn extra money for free and are ready to get started. So now what is your website going to be about?
I would suggest that first and foremost you should choose a topic that is of interest to you. Deciding what to sell or how to advertise will come to you later when the traffic starts rolling in. Have a hobby or something that you love to read about. Great! Write about that. If you are writing about something you are passionate about, you won’t have such a hard time adding to your blog.
After you have chosen your topic get started as soon as you can. If you want to get started for free, you can register with any of the free sites I mentioned in part 1. This will be your base of operations and you should name your page something relevant to your topic for both search engines (like google) to figure out what your site is about and for people who are looking for information to find your site.
Choosing a relevant name is of greater importance should you go the way of registering your own domain. You will want to choose a domain name that search engine rate highly for your chosen topic take a look for instance at the name of this site: http://earnextramoneyonline.co.nz – How easy is it to figure out what this site is about before visiting?
I am trying to cover a lot in a short space here, so I am being very brief. If you have questions or are stuck, leave a comment and I will be happy to help out any way that I can. 🙂
Here is my 13th payment from Clixsense. Clixsense is one of the best paid to click sites and currently I am earning more on this one than any of the others. Check last weeks earning update, and you will see that Clixsense comes out well on top.
Add to this that I have never had any issues in claiming payment when I have reached a minimum balance of $8.00 and I am happy to recommend this site as a trustworthy and paying site.
You can join me by clicking the referral link below and earn some extra money with Clixsense. Remember to get as many referrals for yourself as the referral program on Clixsense is one of the more gernerous ones and referrals, as in alll paid to click programs, is essential in earning any decent amount.

July went much better than June. I have managed to recruit some new advertisers, which has help my earning this month quite a bit. Referring online survey takers to PureProfile has also helped significantly.
Total – $2.74USD = $3.81NZD (approx)
Total – $34.08NZD
Bitcoin – $0.32NZD
Affiliate advertising – $14.00NZD
site hosting – $16.81NZD
- Total earning: $52.21
- Payments received: $33.00
- Total –> $52.21 – $16.81(hosting) = -$35.40NZD earned
Now that you have your webpage up and running and you are getting a few visitors, you will eventually get lucky and a few active referrals will sign up to your referral programs. This will multiply your earnings, so that the more payments you get the more referrals will join you and, the more referrals that join you the more payments you will get. Pretty soon you will have a decent sized blog style page and hopeful you will be getting more and more visitors.
When your visitors start to get up around 1000-2000 unique visits a month, you may want to start advertising a product or service. If you have been really lucky, an advertiser may have already contacted you. Now you can sell real estate on your site to sellers who are interested in the exposure. Often you can be paid monthly for hosting a banner ad or something simular.
Another form of advertising is pay per click. An example of something like this would be google adwords. You host googles little ad module and are paid a small amount every time someone clicks on of the ads. Google hates paid to click sites, so if you are working with any PTC I would not work with adwords or risking getting banned.
Alternatively, you can have a look around for groups or products that offer affiliate marketing. There are so many of varying quality, that I will leave you look them up for yourself, but like with any program, do your research and make sure you are working with someone you can trust. An example of a popular affiliate site would be clickbank.
After you have a website to use as a base of operations, you should now be focused on getting payment proofs to show that the sites that you are using and promoting actually pay and aren’t a bunch of scams you are pushing just to make a buck. In the long run your traffic audience should trust you. If you are just trying to get a few dollars for the short term you won’t be able to continue earning on line after everyone realizes that you are lying to them.
The first thing you should do on your page is introduce yourself and tell everyone what you are trying to do, you will attract people who are trying to do the same and these are the people that you want as they are the people who will sign up to programs that you use. The most effective way to convince people to sign up is to show them your success. Again, be honest, you will be considered untrustworthy if you inflate your earnings and your referrals are unable to get the same results as you.
Get payments from sites as soon as you reach the minimum to cash out. Get as many payments as you can, even if they are small at first. I use payment proof, such as a screen shot of my PayPal account, to prove that the programs I use do actually pay. Of course remember to censor/blur out and personally identifiable details so that unscrupulous types can’t get their hands on your hard earned dollars. Spread these payment proofs far and wide, with your referral link and link back to your ‘home base’ website.
Not too long after the first payment, here is my second. My Opinions continues to be a trustworthy and paying survey site. Almost exactly like smilecity, no doubt because run by the same company, My Opinions seems in my case to have more surveys. This allows me to get more payment proofs to show to you readers. Not the best survey site in my opinion, but if you are going to join several sites as I have suggested in the past, this site is most certainly one that you will want on your list.
